TaalMala 8.0 (Android/iOS) with licensing changes
November 2021: For iOS/Android Editions of TaalMala, we have decided to discontinue the one-time licensing. The only upgrade now available is Premium subscription. We made this decision so that more people could enjoy TaalMala premium features, without making a one-time large payment. It also allows us to support the development and maintenance as newer versions of Android/iOS are released.
If you are one of the customers who purchased TaalMala app license prior to November 1, 2021, please rest assured that your license will be supported.

TaalMala 7.6 (iOS), 7.8 (Android) with Tempo-based sequences
April 2021: Introducing tempo-based sequences: Create sequences that depend on active tempo. For example, you can now create a sequence with all varieties of Ektal, and TaalMala will automatically choose the Taal to play next, depending upon the current tempo. To assist tempo-based sequence, you can now specify recommended minimum and maximum tempo for each Taal when composing.
This release also includes SwarMandal patterns for Ragas Bilaskhani Todi, Kedar, Lalat and Hindol.
January 2021: We are happy to announce a new feature which allows you to set the number of Taal cycles (aavartans) before the Taal
accompaniment stops. You can set the number of Taal cycles (aavartans) before stopping in App Settings. Now you can finish your recital
nicely with a Tihaai, or that one special taan before the final sum!!
This release (for iOS) also includes SwarMandal patterns for Ragas Bilaskhani Todi, Kedar and Hindol.

TaalMala 7.3 with Composer Enhancements

Keep your feedback coming!

TaalMala 5.0 for Android and iOS with All-New Improvisation Engine
February 2018: We are happy to announce a major upgrade to TaalMala on Android and iOS, with completely re-designed improvisation engine.
You can now randomize individual bols within Taal or Lehra, using the symbol "|". For example, writing (TiReKiTe|TraKa)[1] in Taal notation will play either TiReKiTe or TraKa, for 1 beat all together. This notation exponentially improves the improvisation capabilities of TaalMala, and makes Taals and Lehras sound very realistic due to random improvisations.
You can now start the Taal at any beat. This is especially useful when playing in Vilambit (very slow) tempo.
Start and stop any instrument at any time. There were some restrictions in the TaalMala multi-track mixer in the past; we have removed those now.
Many new Lehras and Taals, with improved randomization using the above notation. Check out the new Taals marked as favorites by default, named with word "Accompaniment".
Refresh your license from Settings screen (if it is not automatically detected).

SwarMala Release 1.01
SwarMala 1.01 released on January 22, 2005, with 14 Indian musical instruments,
multi-track sequencer, MIDI capability, and much more... Visit SwarMala.com for more details.
SwarMala Software Features
SwarMala is a complete software package for composition and accompaniment using Indian musical instruments, and consists of two main components:
SwarMala composer is the software application which you can use for composing music using the instruments in SwarMala. It consists of a multi-track
sequencer engine, with support for up to 16 independent channels (tracks). Each track can be composed using one of the built-in
instruments or a user-defined instrument (Professional version only). The composition can be saved
in the proprietary SwarMala file format (*.swr, *.smp) or exported as a standard MIDI file or a WAV file (Professional version only).
In addition, SwarMala also supports the native TaalMala file format (*.tal).
In addition, SwarMala Composer consists of a built-in sampler, which allows you to play the SwarMala instruments
using your MIDI keyboard or other MIDI device. SwarMala sampler can also capture the MIDI using the computer's MIDI input port, and convert
it into a native SwarMala composition. The compositions created using SwarMala can also be used in SwarMala
Accompaniment.
SwarMala Accompaniment is the software application that can serve as your personal accompanist for Indian music.
SwarMala Accompaniment supports all instruments supported by SwarMala, and can play
the files composed using SwarMala Composer as well as TaalMala.
The software provide three independent channels, on which up to three compositions can be played simultaneously. The melody and percussion
channels have the same tempo and are played synchronously, whereas the Tanpura (drones) channel has independent tempo adjustment.
In addition to the main tempo and pitch controls, SwarMala Accompaniment provides a unique method to auto-increment the master tempo
periodically, to cater for a typical requirements of accompaniment in Indian Classical Music practice.
